On the Plane to GERMANY

How lucky we were to have the Oxford's come in and teach us about Germany. After they were finished (especially after the food tasting) I was ready to hop a plane and head over to this fun and yummy country. It was so fun to have our first of many parents that will be coming in to teach a country. Thanks so much Heather and Steve for your knowledge and fun activities.

The books they made were so full of information on Germany, and I felt that I learned so much. They have brought their books home, so hopefully you were able to take a peek with them and learn so many interesting things.




Then Miss Heather made little Alpine hats for us all. After these little beauties were finished and on the kids heads we looked like true (well kinda) Germans!

Thanks again Heather and Steve! We had such a fun time with you here in our classroom!

Creating the Rainforest in our Classroom

For the month of September we learned everything and anything about the Rainforest. We learned about plants that grow there, animals that reside in the rainforest, food that grow in the rainforest, and of course how much it RAINS in the rainforest. We had so much fun creating animals such as alligators, jaguars, parrots, snakes, iguanas and butterflies with the knowledge that we learned. The kids probably thought that Miss Mindy was going to bust out the paint every day (and we just about did). But I can guarantee that if you ask any one of these smart little preschoolers and they'd be able to tell you quite a bit about what they learned.

Now it's onto another month of learning! We are looking forward to learning about Germany and TREES!

Free Time Picks

Well it never fails that the most favorite time of the school days are FREE TIME! The kids have the last 15 minutes of school for free time and they seem to really enjoy each other during this time. Our most recent favorite free time choice are the books on tape. The kids love to put on the headphones and choose from the many books on tape that we have. Others choices they have enjoyed are play dough, paper dolls, dress up (of course) and puzzles.

I've decided that school just isn't school without a few minutes of letting the kids choose for themselves what they want to do. It teaches them to make choices and allows for creativity. Oh to be a kid again. I think I need to schedule in some free time for myself in the day. Sounds like fun!

Back To School

We kicked off another year with a BANG! All 8 of the kids seemed to do really well on the first week of school. We have gotten a schedule all laid out and it seems to be working well. Below is a quick glimpse of some of the things that the kids did during their first week back to school.

Below is our first day pictures. Some of the kids have a look that says, "Get Me Outta Here!" But truly we had a great first week. I know that we are going to have a great year. I am looking forward to watching these kids grow and mature into wonderful little kindergartners.
