Heading Down Under

Heading "Down Under" was quite the fun trip for us. We learned about all the different poisonous (and non-poisonous) snakes that live there, talked about the many marsupials (kangaroos, koalas and such) and of course introduced them to the Indigenous Australians or Aborigines and even found ourselves making our own aboriginal "Dot Painting" art work. What fun we had. Take a peak.
And those of you who know me well, know that we enjoy truly becoming one with the culture (or at least trying the best we can to get into character). So below are pictures of the kids in their "Australian Hats". They were hilarious!
The snake painting had to be one of the most favorite Australian art projects.
Until Next Year...Good Day!

A Visit to the Fire Station

First of all, what an AMAZING group of preschoolers we have. They were so polite and respectful on our field trip to the Fire Station. And a HUGE Thank You to all of the Mom's that went and helped drive and chaperon. It seemed like the kids really enjoyed themselves and learned lots. I know that our family will be making a Fire Escape route and meeting place and having a practiced fire drill. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves. But I will note that the kids had a great time!
For those who weren't with us, we had a special treat and have one of the firefighters play the bag pipes for us. It was fun to see!
Again, thank you to all who helped on our field trip. We our so proud of our Firemen and firewomen who work so hard to help us when we are in need. Thank You!

Detectives on the Loose

So as we have learned about all the different types of jobs that we have out in our community, we have had the opportunity to do some real role playing as well. One that the kids absolutely loved was becoming a "DETECTIVE" for the day. We had some theft at our preschool that morning and it was up to our students to find the clues, and figure out who stole the items, what was stolen and where the thief had hidden the stolen goods. They were all fingerprinted to make sure that they were not the thief, and then they were given their detective badges to begin their detective work.
I'm sure many of you didn't miss all of the clues that were all around our school that day. The thief had left fingerprints and footprints all over. The kids had their mission in front of them and off they went to find the clues.
After ALL of the clues were found we read them out loud and tried to figure out what had happened at school in the wee hours of the morning. It didn't take long before these bright detectives figured that CORY (Thanks to him for being our Thief, even if he didn't know about it) had taken the ICE CREAM and hid it in the GARAGE. Of course they had the reward for finding the stolen goods. All seemed to enjoy their cup of ice cream after solving the mystery.
We had so much fun being detectives and solving the mystery of "The Stolen Goods from Shining Stars Preschool."
